Purpose of the Event:

It aims to promote the exchange of experiences, careful considerations and technical discussion on energy integration in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Main Topics:

  • Energy integration benefits: strengthened experiences and forecast
  • Energy Integration outlook in: a) South America; b) Mexico and Central America, and c) the Caribbean.
  • Latin America and the Caribbean cooperation for Renewable Energy development
  • Latin America and the Caribbean cooperation to promote of climate change in the energy sector

The first two topics will be developed in panels, with at least three keynote conferences and comments by three other specialists.

The third topic will be developed through three or four presentations (the focal point will be the Latin America and the Caribbean Renewable Energy Observatory OLADE-UNIDO)

The fourth topic will be discussed through three presentations (the focal point will be OLADE ́s initiative to analyze the vulnerability of the region's hydroelectric resources.)

As a final session, those Member Countries wishing to display some communications will be able to do so, and a final thought, somehow like conclusions will be made.

Participants:

Ministers and Secretaries of Energy, officials from Ministries and Departments of Energy, Environment, Industry and Trade, experienced specialists from international, and public organizations, private sector representatives, investors, project developers, academics and freelance professionals.

Sponsoring Organizations:

The event is organized by OLADE jointly with the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Nicaragua. Other institutions may be included as co-organizers by mutual consent of the organizers.

Number of participants:

150 participants (approximately) are expected to attend, among which international experts and specialists from other regions and officials from Latin America and the Caribbean are also expected to attend.

Hotel:

The Hotel to host the event must have 40 rooms. Best price should be gotten (from 90 to 110 U.S. $). The hotel should have internet service in rooms and exhibition areas.

The hotel must have an appropriate room for at least 200 people, a secretariat room, lounge room for snacks and lunches, an area to be used as business center, registration hall, information desk , and an exhibition hall of 150 square meters to place the stands.

Participation Cost:

The participation investment is of:

  • US $100 /person (registration deadline September 10)
  • US$150 /person, after that date

The registration fee entitles you to have:

  • Lunch,
  • Coffee Breaks
  • Material.

It has also been created a special category for students who may attend the event and receive the material with a payment of 50 U.S. $ per person.

The participation cost shall be paid in U.S Dollars in cash or with an international credit card, or any other means OLADE uses to collect the payment. Neither local currency nor checks will be accepted.

Exhibition Displays:

Member Countries ́ successful experiences regarding Integration and Energy Cooperation Successful Projects are planned to be displayed. The sponsors confirming the use of stands will be placed inside of them.

Dissemination:

OLADE will coordinate with the Nicaraguan Ministry the media promotion, dissemination and management, before, during and after the event.

General Preliminary Budget:

There is an estimated budget of U.S. $ 60,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs for panelists, participants and supporting group, for food, literature, audiovisual equipment, simultaneous interpreting, among other expenses.

This budget will be covered by the co-organizers organizations, some sponsors and through a registration fee to be paid by participants.

Panelists and a limited number of guests of the organizing institutions are exempt from the registration fee.
